My name is Susan Smythe-Bishop, and I have always loved both design and baking. A few years ago - I discovered that the medium of cake is a perfect way to combine these interests into one!
I hold a degree in Fine Arts from The University of Western, a Certificate in Graphic Arts from George Brown College, have studied extensively at the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts in Toronto, and hold a diploma that certifies me as a Professional Cake Designer. In 2009 and 2010, I was honoured with the award for Best Wedding Cake at the The Cake Show competition and was invited back to be an official judge. I’m also currently an executive with Touchwood PR; the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Pioneering Women, a mentoring association for women working in the arts; and a closet cartoonist and creator of The Citiot - an insiders guide to
Prince Edward County.
I have always loved working with colour, so my cakes are usually very vibrant and are ALWAYS created with the intention of making people either laugh or smile, that's really important to me. If you are looking for a white wedding or event cake, I'm probably not your gal.
My primary objective is to always try and capture the character of the people I am working with. All of the cakes I create are made using the finest and freshest ingredients available as there is little point in making a cake that looks good but isn't moist, fresh and delicious!
So! Enough about me. I hope you enjoy looking at my work and if you are interested in having a cake or cupcakes created for you, you can reach me via the contact link above.
